Orchard hygiene
Good orchard hygiene is always a recommended part of effective Integrated Pest Management systems, but for fruit fly it’s essential.
Consistent hygiene includes:
- Mulching or removing remaining fruit, which stops fruit fly carrying over to the next season
- Removal of non-commercial trees
- Correct disposal of reject fruit from grading/packing
More on hygiene and sanitation can be found on our control methods page.
