The National Fruit Fly Council identified priorities to strengthen the national fruit fly system.
In addition to protecting your own fruit and vegetables from being damaged, it is everyone’s responsibility to reduce the population of fruit flies in their local area.
The use of some pesticides commonly used to tackle fruit fly infestations is no longer permitted due to human health concerns. Producers must rely on a suite of control methods used across the orchard and local area, known as area wide management.
