On 18 September 2025, the NFFC was pleased to welcome Matt Dyck, New Zealand Fruit Fly Council Chair, and Rachel Masters, New Zealand Fruit Fly Council member and New Zealand Apple and Pears representative, to Brisbane to meet with the National Fruit Fly Council (NFFC) and the Fresh and Secure Trade Alliance (FASTA) team and to attend the 2025 FASTA Symposium.

Their visit reinforced the ongoing collaboration between Australia and New Zealand in addressing shared biosecurity challenges across multiple industries, with fruit flies being a key trade-related priority. The NFFC also gained valuable insights from New Zealand’s recent experience in managing and eradicating Oriental fruit fly in Auckland in January 2025.
